Get Involved
(these sites are very informative)
Dr. Richard Darling, a California
dentist, founded ProrateNIH after suffering from hepatitis C,
diabetes, cirrhosis and cancer of the liver, coma, heart attack,
hepatorenal syndrome, myasthenia gravis and three liver transplant
operations.
This site and his book,
ComaLife,
detail how the unfairness in the distribution of funds directly
affects the sixteen diseases (The 16) that kill more people in the
United States than AIDS. His chapter that addresses the shocking
inequities in research spending by the NIH is titled “What
The Hell Is Going On Here!?”
Born and raised in Barre, Vermont, Dr. Darling, 55, was educated at Syracuse University, the University of Denver, and graduated from the University of the Pacific Dental School, San Francisco. As a member of the Board of Directors of the United Organ Transplant Association, he gives speeches promoting organ donation and clarifies the facts versus the myths regarding the “Gift of Life.” Dr. Darling strives to uplift the spirits of the patients in the Coachella Valley Hepatitis C, Liver Disease & Transplant Support Group that he founded.
(Please read his interview on our Personal Interviews & Articles page)
ProrateNIH was formed because of the outrageous inequities in research spending by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that favor AIDS over the sixteen diseases killing more Americans than AIDS. This site will demonstrate the need to reform the public policies used to determine funding distributions by the National Institutes of Heath.
